  • Name and quantity of consignment to be imported

1. â€‹Complete Form1 - APPLICATION FOR IMPORTATION OF PLANT, PLANT PRODUCTS OR REGULATED ARTICLE), attaching all the necessary documents. Application form for a Plant Import Permit (PIP) is available from any Crop Production office countrywide    

A pest risk analysis will be conducted to determine whether import of the consignment applied for is possible and determine conditions to attach to such importation.

A permit is then issued by an officer in Plant Protection Division (Phytosanitary section). The permit will have conditions attached to it which are to be met by National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO) of the exporting country.Upon arrival at port of entry, the importer must declare the consignment, present an original PIP (Plant Import Permit) and PC (Phytosanitary Certificate) to Agricultural inspectors/customs

The consignment is subject to inspection by Agricultural inspectors at entry points even if it accompanied by all the necessary documents.In the course of an inspection an inspector may, as he or she considers necessary, deny entry, seize, destroy, detain, treat or otherwise dispose of any plant, plant product or any other regulated article, or order that any such action be taken, at the expense of the owner.
